Job Description

Position: Full-Time, Salaried

About This Role

The Pastoral Care & Counselling Leader at House of Mercy Christian Assembly plays a vital role in providing counselling services, supporting pastoral care initiatives, and mentoring church members. This position requires a compassionate and spiritually mature individual dedicated to fostering emotional and spiritual well-being within the congregation.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Provide Pastoral Counselling to individuals and families dealing with personal, spiritual, and emotional challenges.
  • Support Pastoral Care Initiatives, including hospital visits, bereavement support, and prayer ministries.
  • Mentor and Guide Church Members, offering spiritual encouragement and accountability.
  • Organise and Lead Support Groups for those facing specific challenges such as grief, addiction recovery, or family struggles.
  • Work Closely with Church Leadership to integrate pastoral care into the overall ministry.
  • Develop Training Programmes to equip volunteers in pastoral care and counselling.
  • Offer Crisis Intervention Support, providing immediate guidance and referrals when necessary.
  • Coordinate Home and Hospital Visits to support members who are ill or facing difficult circumstances.
  • Ensure Confidentiality and Ethical Standards in all pastoral counselling activities.
  • Collaborate with External Counselling Services when additional professional support is required.

Strengths & Skillset

  • Strong pastoral and counselling skills with a heart for ministry.
  • Deep understanding of biblical teachings and Christian counselling principles.
  • Excellent communication and listening abilities.
  • Experience in mentoring and pastoral care.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and compassion.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple care initiatives effectively.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with church leadership and external support networks.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Senior Pastor and collaborates with church leaders and ministry teams.

Personal Responsibilities

While not directly related to the job role, every staff member at House of Mercy Christian Assembly is expected to:

Your Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. The schedule includes weekday pastoral support, Sunday services, and flexibility for crisis interventions and special events.
