About This RoleThe Children’s Pastor is directly responsible for leading the Children’s Ministry at House of Mercy Christian Assembly by developing and implementing curriculum for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to lead their children spiritually. With energetic leadership abilities, the Children’s Pastor executes current ministry programs/events and comes up with creative ideas for continuing to engage children. The Children’s Pastor also provides oversight for Sunday children’s worship services and all children’s ministry staff and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Children’s Pastor 

  1. Oversee all ministry activities for children (ages birth–5 th grade), including Sunday mornings and special
  2. Teaching and preaching at children’s worship
  3. Choose and lead the preparation of age-appropriate curriculum for each age
  4. Create programming and engaging activities for each age group that facilitate learning and encourage spiritual
  5. Recruit, train, and schedule teams of children’s ministry
  6. Plan, schedule, and oversee special events such as Baby Dedications, Family Movie Nights, VBS,
  7. Provide pastoral care to children and families in the church, including hospital visits, follow-up, and
  8. Manage smooth check-in procedures on Sundays and track weekly children’s ministry

Your Team

This position reports to the Senior Pastor. This position relates to the leadership team.

This position currently oversees over 100 volunteers and two children’s ministry staff members (Children’s Coordinator and Children’s Ministry Assistant).

The Children’s Pastor participates in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual team meetings as a part of the leadership team.

Your Schedule

 This is a full-time, salaried position around 45 hours a week, with four days spent in the office and one day of flexible

working location. You may travel 15-25 nights a week for camps mission trips or retreats.
