Job Description

Position: Full-Time, Salaried

About This Role

The Music Teachers and Tutors at House of Mercy Christian Assembly play a vital role in leading and mentoring musicians, training the choir, and assisting in worship preparation. This role ensures that the church’s music ministry is well-coordinated, spiritually enriching, and executed with excellence.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Conduct individual and group music lessons for various instruments and vocal training.
  • Mentor and coach the church choir to enhance their musical skills and spiritual development.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of worship sessions, ensuring high-quality performances.
  • Develop and implement a structured music education curriculum aligned with the church’s vision.
  • Collaborate with the Worship Leader and Media Coordinator to plan and organize special musical presentations and events.
  • Provide guidance on song selection, arrangement, and performance techniques for services and events.
  • Maintain and manage the church’s musical instruments and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
  • Engage with church members and encourage community participation in music ministries.
  • Stay updated with current worship music trends and integrate new techniques where appropriate.
  • Assist in coordinating music rehearsals and ensure proper time management for scheduled performances.

Strengths & Skillset

  • Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument and strong vocal training abilities.
  • Experience in choir directing, music education, and worship leadership.
  • Strong teaching, mentoring, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Worship and Communications teams.
  • Passion for ministry and using music as a tool for spiritual growth.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Worship Leader/Coordinator and works closely with the church leadership and choir members.

Personal Responsibilities

While not directly related to the job role, every staff member at House of Mercy Christian Assembly is expected to:

  • Maintain God-ordained priorities by putting Jesus Christ first, family second, and ministry third.
  • Give at least 10% of income toward the mission and vision of House of Mercy Christian Assembly.
  • Be loyal to the vision and staff of House of Mercy Christian Assembly and protect the unity of the church.
  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude in all interactions with the congregation, staff, and volunteers.
  • Invest and invite others to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and participate in House of Mercy Christian Assembly programs.

Your Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. The work schedule includes weekday lessons, rehearsals, and Sunday services, with flexibility for special events and additional training sessions.
