seek true ENLIGHTENMENT and freedom
There is no doubt that we require food to survive and we desire the best clothing, money, and other material things. However, there is no need to worry about these things, because in seeking the Kingdom of God, everything else is taken care of (Matthew 6:33).
The need for worldly belongings forces us to compromise on a lot of things. A lack of freedom accompanies wealth and submission to the wants of others. The need for worldly things makes us inferior and the essence of freedom is truly lost.
On the contrary, if we have no need for worldly belongings, we will become superior beings. The need for something or someone enslaves us, but through Christ, we are freed from this fleshly bondage and reconciled to God.
This bondage is much more than social bondage; it is the bondage of spirit. Worldly problems encompass our lives, and this forces us to pay little heed towards freedom. Spiritual bondage is something much worse than social or physical slavery, and from time to time, God has warned mankind of its consequences.
You have two choices: either be a slave of worldly desires or seek true freedom. You can seek true freedom by affirming to yourself, “I am a child of God, a spiritual being saved by grace through faith, thanks to Jesus who fulfilled the law on the Cross for me. I am no longer a slave to sin, nor worldly things and I do not need them. Thanks to Christ, who lives in me, I am now free.”
A person who is a slave of worldly desires is, in fact, a slave of his or her own mind, a slave of greed, and a slave to sin. Worldly things like money, land, and other luxuries have no power over us and cannot enslave us.
achieving true freedom
True freedom comes from recognizing the gift of grace that God presents you with, through the finished works on the cross; this is only possible when you open yourself to God and be receptive of what He offers you.
At House of Mercy Christian Assembly, we help you achieve true freedom in Christ through sermons and devotionals that use the message of Jesus Christ and the power of what He achieved for you on the cross. These sermons and devotionals include the following:
- Daily Meditation
- Sermons held Monday through Sunday
- Teaching Series 1: Word of God
- Series 2: Who is Jesus?
- Series 3: Encounters with Jesus
- Sunday Messages
The purpose of these sermons and devotionals is to help you accept and cherish everything that God presents you with as a blessing while letting these things pass out of your life gracefully so that you may attain everlasting and eternal life whilst fulfilling your God-given purpose on earth.
