The Teleprompter Operator will be responsible for managing and operating teleprompter systems during live and recorded broadcasts for House of Mercy Christian Assembly (HMCA). This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring that presenters, pastors, and guest speakers can deliver their messages smoothly and professionally, supporting the production of high-quality faith-based content.
Primary Responsibilities and Tasks
• Operate Teleprompter Equipment
o Manage the teleprompter system during live broadcasts, church services, and recorded programmes.
o Adjust scrolling speed and text display to match the presenter’s speaking pace.
o Ensure the text is clear, well-formatted, and easy to read.
• Prepare and Load Scripts
o Upload and format scripts into the teleprompter software before broadcasts.
o Ensure accuracy and proper flow of content to support seamless delivery.
o Work closely with scriptwriters, presenters, and producers to make any necessary adjustments.
• Coordinate with Presenters and Production Teams
o Communicate with presenters to understand their preferred pacing and style.
o Collaborate with producers and directors to ensure smooth transitions during live and recorded segments.
o Provide real-time script adjustments if necessary.
• Maintain and Troubleshoot Equipment
o Regularly check and maintain teleprompter hardware and software.
o Troubleshoot any technical issues to prevent disruptions during broadcasts.
o Keep backup systems ready in case of equipment failure.
Supporting Responsibilities and Tasks
• Assist with Script Editing
o Provide input on script readability and flow.
o Make minor real-time edits if required to enhance clarity for presenters.
• Support Live and Pre-Recorded Productions
o Assist in rehearsals and ensure presenters are comfortable using the teleprompter.
o Be prepared for last-minute script changes and adjust accordingly.
o Ensure text is correctly displayed for different types of programming, including sermons, interviews, and special events.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience in teleprompter operation, broadcasting, or media production is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during live broadcasts.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick adjustments when needed.
• Familiarity with teleprompter software and media production environments.
• Basic technical troubleshooting skills.
Work Conditions
